Spring is around the corner! There are few better times to head out on a road trip than in the springtime when the weather clears up and the temperatures begin to rise. In the blink of an eye, the kids will be on spring vacation and will want to do activities. Here are some tips to get your truck ready for that Spring Break road trip!

The first tip is to check your truck’s fluids! It is the easiest way to prevent breakdowns and any engine issues while you are on the road. A mechanic can check that the fluid levels are where they need to be and check your engine and even make recommendations depending on your truck’s needs. You should also make sure the oil is changed, all the lights work properly, the windshield wiper blades are ready and the battery is in good condition.

Before hitting the road, you should also make sure your A/C is working properly and that it is consistently blowing cool air. If not, you may need to get it recharged. I know we haven’t used air conditioning since the summer, but we’ll need it soon, so it is better to find that out before you leave for the trip!

You may already have one, but if not, this tip is for you! Buy an emergency kit! You should absolutely have one kit stocked with everything you need for a road trip, such as first aid items, jumper cables, flares, standard tools and any other personal items that could be useful in case of emergency!

This last tip may sound obvious, but you should always make sure your tires are in good shape. Checking tire pressure is a given, but also tread depth. This will decrease the chances of having a flat tire, which we all know is never fun, especially while you are on vacation and/or have a car full of kiddos. It is also a good idea to do tire rotation every six months, which can be easily done by our Service Department. Before you start planning your road trip, bring your truck in for a check-up with our Service Department!
